Restore Guru Rinpoche’s Gold Face

$1,326 of $1,200 raised

Restore Guru Rinpoche’s Gold Face.

This 4-foot bronze statue of Guru Rinpoche is the centerpiece of the shrine in Chöying Dzong. It was donated by Khenpo Namdrol and was filled and consecrated by Gangteng Rinpoche during the Vajrakilaya Drubchen in 2007.
The face was later painted by Lopon Phurba Dorje, former resident Lama of Choying Dzong, with gold obtained while he was in Tibet. This gold had been melted down from statues in the Portola palace shrines in Lhasa.

In an unfortunate cleaning mishap, the solid gold paint on the face of Guru Rinpoche was removed. We intend to restore it to its original luster with 24k gold at a estimated cost of $1000-$1500. Our Dharma sister, Suzy, a gilding expert, is ready to apply the gold professionally.
We ask your support of this restoration effort.
